Misty Croslin, the ex step-mother of Haleigh Cummings, a 5-year-old who vanished from her Satsuma, Florida home in February, was just arrested along with Haleigh's father Ronald Cummings, on drug-trafficking charges. Croslin, 18, faces six counts of trafficking prescription drugs, and is in jail with a $950,000 bond, according to CNN.
The former couple was arrested Wednesday, along with three other people, after they reportedly sold nearly $4,000 worth of drugs to undercover officers. They made appearances in court but it is unclear if they have been assigned attorneys.
Ronald Cummings, the father of missing child Haleigh Cummings has been arrested for drug trafficking. Cummings was arrested along with his ex-wife, Misty Croslin Cummings for drug trafficking of drugs oxycodone and hydrocodone.
When five year old Haleigh went missing Feb 10, 2009, nothing seemed right right off the bat. Misty Croslin just could not seem to get her answers straight, and what few answers she did manage to give, just didn't add up. Croslin claimed that she had put the children to bed and was sleeping in the same room with them. When she got up in the middle of the night she discovered that Haleigh was gone and the back door was propped open. To top it off, about a week after Haley went missing, Ronald Cummings married the 17 year old Misty, with statements like "keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer". Apparently that idea didn't work out too well for him, because he filed for divorce from Misty on October 6, 2009.
On Thursday, January 21, 2010, Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin appeared in court on drug charges. They were charged with six counts of trafficking oxycodone and hydrocodone. If found guilty, each count could net 30 years behind bars.
The drug investigation was apparently not linked with the missing child's investigation, but authorities are hopeful that there could be clues to helping them locate the little girl.
"Even though these are totally separate, they are parallel cases, and there's no doubt in my mind these cases will cross some day," Lt. Johnny Greenwood said. "I hope that somewhere through this, the investigators in the Haleigh case will find the information they need."
Texas equisearch and certain other officials announced that Haleigh was presumed dead several months after her disappearance.
